I’m currently one of the primary teachers for the Bay Area Pragmatic Dharma Club, a meditation class organised by the San Francisco Dharma Collective. The class is available in-person at SFDC and online via Zoom.
The class meets on Mondays at 7:30pm San Francisco time, which works out to be 12:30pm, 1:30pm, or 2:30pm Tuesdays in Sydney depending on daylight savings. Note that on the SFDC website it lists times in your local timezone, but it doesn’t always update the day.
If you’d like to join the class please get in touch with me, or with Tucker, to get on the mailing list.
This weekly meetup focuses on diverse techniques of meditation, as well as the interplay between meditation and psychology. While we’re not attached to any particular technique, many of the group members practice based on modern meditation manuals like The Mind Illuminated, Right Concentration, Seeing That Frees, or Mastering the Core Teachings of the Buddha. We start with a 30-40 minute sit, followed by small-group discussions so you get to know your fellow sangha members. The end of the class is a Q&A with the teacher.
Our primary teachers are Dr. Tucker Peck, a clinical psychologist and longtime teacher of dharma classes and residential retreats, and Dr. Kynan Tan, a meditation teacher, artist, musician, researcher, and coder, who is interested in collaborating with students to achieve their meditation goals through the many dimensions of practice.
